You’ve
sought enough
sought
so much
that
the distinct shape
the
diga-palala and depths
of
object
and
even name
have
receded into landscape
and
skyline
left
a country called Memory
and
found home
in
oblivious continents
where
the babel of language
has
outlawed word.

They
turn
not
with sun or stars
the
lunar effect on water
annual
depressions in the Bay of Bengal
they
are not of sun and rain
they
don’t make drought or flood
or
a softer blend
they
are heart-drawn chariots
with
wings for wheels
that
bend the tree and twist the wind
that
conjure laughter from a land of sorrow
make
music out of desolate days
make
me cry
for
no reason at all.

The tamed are framed
boundary-defined, and
post-containment capture
is easy for hold-and-click;
the untamed subverts
predictability and easy-pose
the intangibles sway
like reflections scrambled
by wind and ripple,
the sharp turn
that is the passion-prompt
and survival need
of the wary, the proud,
but the unframed
and unscripted
of life-affirmation
and capture-denial
is for eminent lens-play,
a poor giving
to the ingrate --
a gift nevertheless.

Universe-collapse
has
multiple address;
the
better known
such
as sand-grain
and
the less acknowledged;
thought
strain and wordlessness
string-less
kites and waters missed by cartographer
the
word that could have changed the world
but
was not said
the
tongues that held peace as others wagged,
but
among innumerable residences
I
prefer leaf
for
color, texture, shape
for
breaking forth from hard black timber
for
dancing with breeze
curling
with sun
for
fall and softening for kick or footfall
for
fertilizing
again
and again.
