Meditation on clay lamps

Receptacle of symbol,
symbolic of salience
the doctrinal soft logic of being
tell me:
where lies the truth
where the going and the gone.
In the residue of yesterday’s devotion
the waiting earth for tomorrow’s oil
the lubricant and fuel of veneration
the wick of human sorrow
the flame that illuminates
dies
and illuminates once more
in death,
or the iron grid that holds
and frames and frames
and fuels ignorance?

[Inspired by the photography of Hiranya Malwatta]

  1. The Bible says that if we offend the law at 1 point we are guilty of all, the truth shall set you free & you are free indeed, for all have sinned & fallen short of the glory of God, & Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth & the Life no man comes to the Father except my Me." For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  2. beautiful ...
the devotion of the Buddhists have not changed and it will never ever change ... this is just a temporary situation i believe. And the relationship that we the Buddhists maintain with the 'temple' is not just symbolic .... the values, customs and the traditions that attached to this sacred place is something special ...this going towards the 'eternity' choosing the path called 'the nirwana' is not just an easy thing but the people who have gone via this path are the wise .....
also this photograph says and confirms the truth of life ... 'siyalu sanskaara dharmayo nasena suluya' ......

you always keep some space for the readers to think and analyze the way they prefer .....

  3. Allison, I didn't intend my comment to be frivolous, in case you took it that way. Faith is a powerful thing.

  5. there are many paths to 'the truth' and we use different names for both path and destination and perhaps we are too ignorant/flawed to pass judgment on the wisdom or its absence of those who use a different path or else walks the same path but calls it a different name.
