Thin
taut-able, bendable
line and particle aggregate
made for walking
meant to stop
made to break
and sing,
wire is heart-string
and thought-stream
metaphor for entanglement
simple sibling
of a human twin
that will not laugh
but can be made to smile
Is this another poem of 'give me a word' series?
ReplyDeleteyes
DeleteMalinda, although its of no reference to Wire, I thought I should comment on your write up on your father which was posted somewhere in November last year. Its the concluding line which moved me profoundly: My father; he is a child, my appachchi." It was so beautiful coming deep from a child's heart with no poetic finer points.
DeleteI often wonder why we are so helpless with words when it comes to people who are so precious.... words dont come easy...
wire me not
ReplyDeleteNo not my eyes or words
a canvas of the world..
wired, barbed
rusty with arrogance
unwire the fence
and be pinched
about precious people...such people/moments puts us face to face with the poverty of expression. and so we resort to the other, time-tested, and infinitely more eloquent language. silence.
ReplyDeleteCorrect Malinda, the more eloquent language is silence. Silence speaks volumes, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteSilence- penetrates word
making word a poor player
twin of eye gaze- direct or down
one word, one gesture
compensating beyond comparison
Malinda, why are your poems confined to this 'give me a word' series now? Please post self-inspired verse again...
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above comment. Why restricting your verse to this exercise? By the way Malinda what kindled this exercise?
ReplyDeletenot restricted to anything. :)
ReplyDeleteThen please post a verse 'away from this series'....
